Foundation training year 2026/27: Essential Skills webinar series 

 

Designed to guide and enable you with essential skills and knowledge that will help navigate you through your foundation training year.

Expert speakers are here to get you ready for your common registration assessment in 2027. See below the themes that will be covered and when.
 
These online webinars are free to attend for all Royal College of Pharmacy (RCPharm) Foundation Trainee Members, but you'll need to book your place for each session via the book now button below. 
 


Key milestones for the foundation training year: insights from designated supervisors and training leads
 

Monday 7 September | 7pm - 8pm


   By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify key dates for the foundation training year
  • Apply the GPhC IET standards and learning outcomes to practice and learning
  • Collate effective evidence to support the GPhC standards and learning outcomes
  • Define the progress review process and confidently prepare for the first progress review
  • Find solutions to challenges during the foundation training year.

Focus on law and ethics: the Medicines, Ethics and Practice as an essential resource

 

Monday 5 October | 7pm - 8pm
 

   By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Effectively utilise the MEP to support your practice, learning and revision
  • Identify common pharmacy law and ethics scenarios
  • Solve pharmacy law and ethics questions and scenarios 
  • Identify areas of development in the topic of pharmacy law and ethics.


Focus on clinical resources: using SmPCs, PILs, the BNF and other clinical resources to support your revision
 

Monday 23 November | 7pm - 8pm
 

   By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify key resources to support your revision
  • Solve clinical practice scenarios and questions using SmPCs and BNF/BNFC
  • Utilise other clinical resources to answer clinical practice scenarios and questions
  • Identify areas of development in the topic of clinical conditions and use of clinical resources.

Prescribing principles and considerations

Monday 11 January | 7pm - 8pm

 

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Identify tools to support you to prescribe safely 
  • Develop your confidence to prescribe within your scope of practice 
  • Apply effective consultation and soft skills in relation to decision making when prescribing   
  • Find an approach to balance workload to allow you to prescribe.

 

 

Revising for the common registration assessment

Monday 8 February | 7pm - 8pm

 

By the end of the session, you will be able to:

  • Outline key topic areas in the common registration assessment framework
  • Utilise the common registration assessment framework to plan your revision
  • Construct a more focussed plan for your revision
  • Identify how RCPharm resources such as ONtrack can support your revision.
