About the Event

Join this interactive online event to explore the rewarding position of a Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) and hear first-hand from other DPPs as they share their experiences and insights in this vital role.

With expert speakers from primary care, secondary care, community pharmacy and academia, you'll gain a broad perspective on how DPPs are supporting the development of the future prescribing workforce.

As more of the pharmacy workforce become independent prescribers, and the pharmacy professionals’ role evolves, NHS England highlights that learner supervision is needed to underpin the transformation.

This online event will help you understand the Designated Prescribing Practitioner Competency Framework and how it can be applied in your own practice. Through practical examples, expert-led discussions and a live Q&A panel, you'll have the opportunity to ask your questions, learn from experienced DPPs, and connect with colleagues.

Attending this event will enable you to:

  • Apply the Designated Prescribing Practitioner Competency Framework to support your development as a DPP.
  • Recognise the expectations and responsibilities of the DPP role and identify the support available to them.
  • Reflect on your own prescribing practice to optimise the learning experience of trainee prescribers.
  • Identify and manage trainees who require additional support.
  • Recognise when and how to escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Network with colleagues involved in supervising and developing independent prescribers across a range of sectors.

Whether you are already a DPP supporting trainee prescribers, or considering becoming a DPP this event is for you!

Due to the interactive nature of the event, places are limited.

"Good to meet and hear others who are in similar positions and how they are planning on fulfilling the role as DPP. I am going to make more use of the competencies. The speakers gave some great examples of excellence in practice."
